Here is the download link for the updated firmware for the:
Sumvision sv-1000 dvd recorder

http://svp.co.uk/helpdesk/index.php

When you get to the site, just type (Sumvision) in the search and will take you straight to it.

(Another new update from the same site (lets you put your channels in order)

Hope this helps :)

RE: Durabrand DVR A160

You are quite right about the Multiregion hack it does work, as to playing Divx I`m afraid its a no no :( tried lots of my Avi`s and no joy)

I`d just like to add that the built in tv tuner is almost worthless, I have great reception on UHF and freeview digital with perfect sight of the main TV mast Emley Moor, this tuner seems to go half a band past the best tuning picture even when fine tuning.

Did some test recording on variious makes of disks including the one provided and at different quality levels, even on high quality the results were pretty poor, I`v had better results from a VCR and I`m not being picky here.

This is one DVD recorder on its way back to Asda pronto.

I`m gonna order of the web a Sumvision SV-1000, a friend of mine has the Sumvision SV-1001 and says out performs his top grade JVC DR-MX10.

sadly the Sumvision SV-1001 is hard to get hold of now so I`ll have to settle for the Sumvision SV-1000 with slightly less features but it will record and play beer mats with very high quality results all this for around £75.00.

Thanks again Hackeroonie I`m still gonna fiddle with this one until I take it back next week.

Rocks

RE: Durabrand DVR A160

Thanks for the reply Hackeroonie, any idea if there is a firmware hack to make it play Divx/Mpeg4/Avi etc.?

gonna try the Multiregion one first, if not its back to Asda 28 day no quibble money back :)

Thanks again.

Durabrand DVR A160

Hello, Forum

I`m just looking at puchasing a Durabrand DVR A160 model from ASDA at a price of £67.97

Does anyone have one of these and have any reports on them good/bad

I also would like to know if this unit is capable of playing Avi/Xvid/Divx/Mpeg4 files?

I was also considering a Sumvision SV-1001 but these are pretty hard to get hold of as they are quite on old model but comes bundled with twice as many features as the Durabrand model including Dual recording +/-, Reading Divx/Mpeg4/Avi/Xvid, 5.1 sound, Video Camera Connection and USB connectivity from Pen drives all for around £70.00. (Reviews on these were very good picture quality at all speeds and good all rounder.
