Glad to help, I`ve been trying to work it out since xmas... got it by taking one apart & ID`ing the chip as a mediatek in the end. Anyhow, it was nice to give something back to a group that`s helped me out loads!

Done a bit more research on the mediatek chipsets. Now, I don`t know if the 7012 carries the same chip, but here`s a big lists of hacks that *reputedly* work with this chipset. You`ll notice some are aimed at normal rather than portable players, but just ignore the open/close part. Maybe some people will find them helpful. It seems to be that the code you type is the model of the chip 1369, 1379 etc followed by the region. If you get a non editable region display menu only, try navigating to the `preferences` menu of your player before typing the code. Anyhoot, heres the codes I have found... I got this list from http://www.forodivx.com/ so full credit should go to the posters on that site.

Region hacks : Older MT1369/MT1379 players

Below is a whole (but not necessarily complete !) series of hacks which are known to work on those players installed with MT1369 or MT1379 chipsets.

For brevity`s sake "followed by" is represented by three full stops "...", OPEN/CLOSE means press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote once only (not OPEN then CLOSE !)

Tevion DVP7018 working & verified hack!

You guys & gals are gonna be pleased with this I hope...

1. Turn on DVD Player
2. Ensure NO DISC is present
3.On remote press SETUP
4.Press right cursor 3 times [ >>> ]
5.At this menu type 1 3 7 9 followed by region of your choice, 0 for multi region
6. On remote press SETUP again
7. Put in any disk other than a region 2
8. You are region free!!!

I bought two of these from Aldi for my kids, and both are now successfully cracked.

If step 5 doesn`t work for you (worked on both of mine) turn off then back on & repeat the process but at step 5, use the down arrow twice to go from region 2>1>0 or up to the region of your choice, rather than typing the region directly.

You will know if you are region free as when you do the 1 3 7 9 + region code bit, the new region code will pop up in a grey box, e.g [Region 0].

RE: Hack code

This player is manufactured by Seimssen, model 6374 according to a little sticker on the bottom. Can`t get any joy with that, but maybe someone else will get lucky.
