I have used +RW discs and I didn`t need to do anything to them to make them compatible for other machines.
I can simply take them out of the DVR3006 and use them. I`ve used them on PC`s, other DVD players, Playstation 2`s, etc. - so far without any problems.

I also use -R discs, and these DO need to be made compatible.
You do this under edit disc - and you will see an option for "finalise disc".
It then writes to the disc for a minute or two, after which the disc is "locked" and can be used on any other machine. Again, I have had no problems using the discs with PC`s, Playstation 2`s and other DVD players.

Note: if I`m using a +RW disc, then the "finalise disc" option does NOT appear.
I figured that this is because it is not necessary - the disc is already compatible..
