Choosing a DVD/HDD recorder for use with Humax Foxsat HD (receiver only)
Hi
I am about to catch up with the rest of you as I currently play DVDs through my kids Xbox 360 and we only have a video recorder.
So, I am looking to buy a DVD/HDD (been looking at Panasonic EX78) and I also want to buy a Humax Foxsat HD receiver. However, being a bit out of touch I had a few questions which I haven`t been able to track down in my searches to date.
- am I right in assuming that I won`t be plugging the Humax signal in to my Toshiba HD ready TV via the HDMI cable as I want to be able to record via the DVD recorder ? If so:
- what will happen to the HD signal (I know there aren`t many yet) from the Humax if I plug it in to the DVD recorder via anything other than HDMI and then from the DVD recorder to the TV via HDMI ? I am wondering if the HD "quality" is lost if I don`t plug it directly in to the TV
- depending on the answer to the above (as to whether it is a problem or not), is there a DVD recorder comparable to the Panasonic that has an HDMI input and an output ?
- I will be using the equipment in France to receive UK TV via Freesat. They also have their equivalent to Freeview I think. Does anyone know whether the DVD Freeview is obtained by simply plugging in the aerial cable to the DVD and is there a chance it will pick up their version of Freeview ?
- Lastly, can anyone recommend a better machine than the Panny ?
A huge thank you in advance and thanks for reading a lot of waffle (sorry I couldn`t have been more succinct).
Regards
Andrew
