Pride and Prejudice 10th Anniversary
Does anyone know if this new edition (released 12/09/05) has a new video transfer as the picture quality on the previous version was terrible? At present I can`t find any reviews or comparisons. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
RE: What are best british based dvd sites that sell r1 disks
Although I have found play247 to be very good just one word of warning. In the past I have found that some R1 discs have been different than what I have expected. Rather than being the North American version they seem to have slightly different ones (possibly Canadian). One disc I ordered had a French cover (possibly for the French Canadians) and was missing the extras features found on the North American version. BTW it was not a R2 disc, I double checked.
Unfortunately they were a bit funny about taking it back saying that they only mention R1 discs (not specifically North American). I spoke to a very impolite woman on the phone first time round who simply refused to take it back. However, after contacting them again via email, obviously someone else, they were happy to take it back for a full refund including my return delivery cost! I have to say that was unexpected but very welcome.
Maybe someone was just having a bad day when I called.
Tesco Very Good - Anyone disagree?
I have bought three DVD players from Tesco as presents for various members of the family. My own DVD player came from Techronics (which I have to admit I have had no problems with) but after reading many bad postings about them I would not buy from them again.
All the players I have got have been excellent and they continue to get ones that can be easily made multi region via the remote. This is excellent news since most can be reset back to region2 if a repair was needed.
The only problem I had was one of them had older firmware and would not play RCE discs. However, after a tip I got from this site I found that it would not play the R2 LA Confidential. I borrowed this from a friend and found that it would not play. When I contacted Tesco they were excellent and said they knew of the problem. I was expecting them to send a technician to test it (which is why I borrowed the disc as I thought saying it wouldn`t play some R1 discs would probably not be wise) but instead they said I should just send it back. They pressumably upgraded the firmware and it now plays all discs fine, even RCE discs. The whole process took less than a week.
Also the prices of DVD`s have been excellent recently thanks to the their No VAT offer. Try Tesco.com since they also offer good prices and so far I have found their service cannot be faulted.
