NTSC to PAL converting players?

Please can anybody help me with this simple question:

I have a Pioneer DV535 DVD player and i was wondering if this specific player converts NTSC signals for Region 1 DVD`s to PAL, as i don`t think my TV is NTSC capable. I know the Arcam DV88 player does, so if anybody knows the answer please tell me or i will most likely, have to buy a new TV.
Does anybody have any info on these NTSC-to-PAL converters, are they any good.

Any reply would be greatful

Paul

P.S. on the front of the player it has the symbol PAL/NTSC??

Pioneer DV626D, Found it at a very cheap price, Anybody know about it?

I have just visited the dark side, i went to Currys in search of a DVD player at a cheap price.
And i was amazed to find the Pioneer DV626D for £189.97. I know its old but it looks good in reviews and for that price, its great.

It would be helpful if anybody has or knows of this player so they can , hopefully, give me some info on this player. e.g is it multi-regional or how can it be made multi-region , RCE, how it performs, any problems encountered etc.

Any reply will be grateful once again

The Pioneer DV535 ( Rare as Rocking Horse S**t)

Is Pioneer being slow with their roll-out of the next batch of the Pioneer DV535 or is it me.

Every site i visit is out of stock and everybody you ask blame Pioneer, nobody knows any delivery dates for the players. I know that they are popular, but what kind of company is Pioneer.

If anybody is in the same situation as this or you have any helpful advice, please contact me.

The Best Films that never got an Oscar! (And the winner is??)

What gets my goat with the ocsars, is that some great films never get oscars just because of all these people who just follow what some low rated film reviewer says about these really average films. And the next thing you know, some minor celeb is giving the director an award.
Don`t get me wrong, some ocsars have been awarded correctly but the last few years their getting it all wrong.

I am sorry if affending anybody but thats how i see it.

Here are a list of great Films that never got a crappy ocsar and what they should have been awarded:

1. Bad Boys (Best actor, Best supporting actor, Best Cinematography)
2. The Great Escape (Best Storyline)
3. Senseless (Best Comedy "by far")
4. Face Off (Best Special Effects, Best Stunts)
5. American Pie (Best Comedy)

Feel free to have your say on the matter.

DVD-ROM`s, How to???

Does anybody know how to install and setup a DVD drive for a PC.

Is it the same as with a normal CD-ROM, if it is, then it will be easy, but i feel that i need assurance before going ahead with the installation.

Any replies would be very grateful

THANX

RE: New to DVD discs and needing to know the truth!!

Thank you for your reply to my question.

You where more helpful than all the in-store helpers at a lot of the big electronic companies.

New to DVD discs and needing to know the truth!!

As i am in the process of purchasing my first dvd player, i decided to price up the discs and there features.

The one thing i can get my head around, is the screen sizes.

Most new dvds in the shops say "Widescreen presentation" on the front and on the back have 1.1:85 or something like that.
What does this indicate, does this mean that they will not work on my 4:3 tv, or they will, but not properly.

If they are the widescreen versions, then is there a normal version of the discs that i should be buying.

Please help and rescue me from this confusion situation!

Thanx Tricky

P.S If anybody is interested, i am purchasing the Pionner DV535 multi-region dvd player from HED very cheap £188.99 (thats if it ever comes back in stock)
