RE: Certain disks wont output through digital optical to HTK-215

Thanks Simian,
You are correct. On the Jerry McGuire disk when i changed from the MPEG 5.1 format to Dolby Digital - it worked. On the few good men disk, there was only the MPEG option, so I know what to look for now when buying disks. Sony dont make it obvious that the Amp wont play this format of disk - so other users should beware.
This is the first time I have used the forum and got a great response.
Cheers to all.

RE: Certain disks wont output through digital optical to HTK-215

Kemo,
I like your humour! please be assured I do have movies starring other actors.. but yes, the cruise factor its a strange co-incidence! Maybe Nicole is a heavy sony investor.

On a serious note - it doesnt say UNLOCK, just waits there with DVD showing in the window. When routed via `TV` I get a prologic signal with ise of front, center, right and sub-wooofer but no rear speaker outputs. I`m beginning to conclude it must be the disks as I have watched around 15 other movies with no trouble.

Certain disks wont output through digital optical to HTK-215

Can anyone help me?

I`ve just bought a Phillips DVD751 and the new sony HTK215. I`m very pleased with it but puzzled that 2 out of 12 DVDs tried dont seem to send any sort of signal through the digital optical lead to the amp. All others tried are OK and send dolby digital etc through fine.

The DVD`s themselves (A few good men & Jerry McGuire) play fine through the TV, and when routed through the TV leads to the amp also produce a prologic signal to Left Right and center speakers (but not rear) Their boxes imply they are dolby digital etc... so its bugging me why they behave differently. Somebody did suggest I check the setting on the phillips for digital out set to `All` - Ive done this but still no joy.

Are we just talking faulty disks here (I am new to this dvd thing)? Has anyone else had problems like this? any advice greatfully received.

Thanks
Clarkey

RE: Disks wont output thru Digital Optical to HTK-215

Thanks for the reply. I have checked the output on the phillips and it is set to `all`. (other options are PCM and off). Most disks output fine, its just the 2 I mentioned that dont give any signal at all to the amp.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
