RE: Anyone bought Eltax Speakers or stick with Mission?

Looking at that it looks like your right and im wrong.

:-(

RE: Yamaha RXV520RDS or Yamaha RXV620RDS??

Another to consider is the yamaha amp rather than receiver:

Yamaha DSPAX620 - £279 it has had some superb reviews i believe
( i am not sure but i think this replaced the A5)

Clayts and Andrew B can probably comment on which is the best of these 3 ?

RE: Anyone bought Eltax Speakers or stick with Mission?

The silverados on qed are not the same as those at richers the qed silverados are the older models, richers have the new metal silverados.

Ask richer or qed

Richer S= £199
QED = £109

RE: Miller Brothers and QED one & the same??

## Yes

RE: LG 3350 -Any still available?

Unfortunately i doubt if you would be able to get one now, they were discontinued some time ago, you could try asking Dabs, their site says "overdue" so i guess they may be getting some but i very much doubt it::

www.dabs.com
DVD3350e Multi Region Capable
Mfr code: DVD3350E
Quicklinx: Q5CWS

Personally I`d buy one of the new players like the toshiba210e (£189)

RE: Speakers - Mission or Eltax?

Bloody Hell 7k.

There should be a new thread who`s spent the most!?!?.

On the girlfriend front I told her I got my 36" sony tv for for £800.
she may be really clever, but when it comes to AV they don`t seem to have a clue do they!?!? :-)
(and i mean that in a nice way)

RE: Blimey, never noticed that before!

See the:

RE: Speakers - Mission or Eltax?

£500 !!!! for a sub - let me get up off the floor.

You will obviously note from this comment (my ignorance) that this is my first setup you can imagine my surprise at paying £500 for a small box that i cant find to put anywhere in my room!! :-)

My friend however assures me its worth it so ive decided to now stretch to £150 and no more.
I bought the what hifi mag and the Paradigm PS-1000 has 5 stars so I was thinking go for that??.

The two things that have surprised me most about buying all this has been the sudden unexpected costs of the sub and the interconnects.

When I have finished (and am nearly there) this will have cost me nearly £4000 !! (a lot for me as a first time setup, probably not for you guys) [ i origonally budgetted around £2000 !!, its amazing how carried away you can get when you see something better :-) ]

RE: Tosh SD210 or LG3350e plz advise

Both great players.

The tosh is the newer of the 2, in fact i think the LG3350 was discontiniued a while ago, hence the great price you have listed (was £250).

Basically both nice, it is totally personal choice, although remember that the tosh from dabs isnt multiregion whereas the LG is, so you would have to get the tosh from somewhere like richersounds which has been chipped for multiregion (cost £199)

RE: Are we running out of ideas.......?

Cant understand why she was choosen to be honest.

Elizabeth, Dean, Stuart, Narinda etc are all married, I cant understand why the put so many married people in. They would have better putting all younger single people in so there was more chemistry, fun and sexual attractions between the players, the only half interesting thing is the relationship betwen paul and helen.

The people chosen in my opinion were all wrong for the show, its just boring

RE: Speakers - Mission or Eltax?

I looked at those as well, hence my post above, but when i saw they were £109 on the qed site my opinion of these speakers went down.

I felt that 5 speakers for £109 was just a little too cheap so I went for the mission instead, they cost twice as much but i am sure i made the right choice, and i still thought £230 was a good price for 5 speakers.
I have to admit the silverados in silver are nice looking speakers though.

I too am now on the search for a subwoofer, I nearly died when i saw how much they are!!!!

RE: Speakers - Mission or Eltax?

It may be worth looking around for eltax speakers.

I was under the impression the only place to buy them was richersounds, but then noticed that the silverado set being sold by richersounds for £200 was also on the qed site selling for only £100 !!!

Obviously this may just be this set, but it goes to show it is always worth shopping around.

I personally went for the missions, most reviews that i have read
of eltax dont seem to be that great

RE: Sevenoaks? ignorant staff

Are they franchise Andrew?.

Obviously what westy says is quite right 7oaks are obviously a much more upmarket store and indeed different to richer sounds, but in todays market place i think 7oaks are wrong to assume they automatically have different customer types, these stores should be after every type of customer, "bargain hunters" or not.

I admit I myself was looking for a bargain and a low price solution (i eventually opted for a (sony kv36fs70, toshiba210e & 5 mission speakers) and yes maybe sevenoaks were not interested in this amount of money, but i am only 24yrs old now so in 10 years time i would be probably looking for something more expensive but would now be reluctant to ever go back there. Alienting the younger customer
base is a mistake imo.

I suppose another reason i did not get served could have been i was wearing jeans, but it was a saturday!!, i guess it would have been wiser to call in mid week wearing a suit.
[ i would like to add here that the jeans were paulsmith though!! :) ]

I`ll drop you a note via email Andrew and you can pass it on.

I`d be interested to know how richersounds turnover
compares to 7aoks anyone any idea roughly?

RE: Sevenoaks? ignorant staff

They didn`t answer any of my emails!!.
So i went down to there store one saturday, there were two staff members sat behind a counter messing around ( one had his feet up on the counter!!!) ), I walked around the room and left without anyone saying a word!.

Very disappointing :(

RE: Cheapest place for Toshiba SD210

Macorvision disbale basically means you will be able to record your dvd`s onto vhs tapes. i.e. recording from dvd-vcr
Unfortunately the only place to buy toshiba players that are chipped for macrovision disabled are from techtronics, form what i am aware no other chips do this apart from techtronics chips

RE: Cheapest place for Toshiba SD210

1. Does it playe MP3`s? ### yes it does
2. wots diff between SD210 and SD210E? ### nothing, but the 210e is the official uk one, i think the 210 could european imports but they are the same player, correct me if i am wrong someone?, mine is a 210e
3. Multi Region - is it Auto or can i set it manually ### Auto

RE: Whatcha think about the Scans players Picture quality?

Two of my friends compared theirs, a scan and a pioneer535 (both about £160).
The pioneer seeemed to blow the scan away for pic quality, obviously others may have had different results.

RE: Your dvd stores favorites folder?

RE: Cheapest place for Toshiba SD210

Hi Andy.
Surprised you don`t want a multiregion version?,
I bought the 210 but multiregion was a must for me. Certainly something to consider imo, especially as it is only an extra £19.

RE: Anyone bought Eltax Speakers or stick with Mission?

Thanks for the reponses.
]
readmenow - you have hit the nail on the head regarding "style & looks"
it is the look of the silver and beech of the eltax that appeals to me most although, of course it should be sound that counts and not looks!! { but dont you just want something different than "black" now :) }

One thing i have noticed about the liberty speakers you mention is that they are bi-wireable. What are everyones thoughts on this?.
Is this the way to go???.

TIA

Anyone bought Eltax Speakers or stick with Mission?

Looking for a speaker set probably from Richer Sounds (less than £250)

Choices: Eltax (silverado set) set or do I go with theMissions (702e,700,70c1)

Anyone have experience of this types??

TIA

ps. any receiver recommendations (for dvd "& music") also appreciated !!)

RE: Component lead

OT: Andrew - are you from sevenoaks?.
As per post above sevenoaks didn`t answer my sales email either, do they not really support email?

RE: Whats the cheapest multiregion DVD player ?

There you go, get down to woolies and look from £150 you`ll have enough left over for a penny chew!!

RE: Missing Web Site Graphics?

For what it`s worth. I have the same problem.

I don`t have a problem with other sites just this one.

Unfortunately i have paid good money for Norton so I am reluctant to dump it just for this website,
I guess i`ll just have to live with it. :-(

IE5.5, Win98se
