Be careful. Look at the release date, it`s late May. These aren`t the existing box sets, they are cheaper versions of it. I don`t know what the difference is but, I`m fairly certain that they`re not the same thing. Don`t trust the picture they show you. If it was the same thing, it wouldn`t have a new release date. Play.com is doing the same promotion.

Could just be that there`s an upcoming price reduction that they can`t pass on yet. I got the Futurama Season 4 boxed set a month or so ago for £15.99 from Play it was listed as like "promotional version" or something, and had its own release date (29/3, I think), but it is exactly the same.

No, the Futurama SImpsons thing is okay. I remember reading about cheap and cheerful versions of the Buffy box sets coming out soon. I wouldn`t recommend preordering until you`re sure what they are because I`m almost certain these aren`t proper box sets.

Not a lot of information about what`s on the DVD`s. EzyDVD in Australia are listing a budget release for 26th May with all the extras. I think the only difference will be the packaging, no fancy box just standard cases in a slipcase and thats fine with me as they are more durable.

Worth remembering that the Region 4s that EzyDVD sold previously were different to the R1 and R2 sets. The R4s were just 6 DVDs in individual DVD cases, with a cardboard sleeves holding the sets (1-11, 12-22). I got these initially, then replaced them with R2 sets from DVDZone2 for about £35 each. These ones (which are still available here) are the proper presentations boxes, albeit with some French / Dutch text as well as the English. May be worth a look if the cheapo R2s turn out to be cr4p.

Thing is, for that price you can generally buy the R1 DVDs. I think CDwow do them for about 30ish.

But there not widescreen although having read this -

Gentle Viewer,
No doubt you are looking over this scrumptious BUFFY package and exclaiming "No @#$%ing letterboxing ? Whutzat ? GYPPED !" Possibly you are breaking things. Please calm down. The fabulous episodes of BUFFY (and that one crappy one, sorry about that, seemed really cool when we wrote it...) were not shot in a widescreen format. They were shot in the TV 4 by 3 ratio. Now I`m a letterbox fanatic, but not just because I crave th` wide. I want to see the whole screen, as framed by the director. The BUFFY`s I (and others) shot were framed for traditional TVs. Adding space to the sides simply for the sake of trying to look more cinematic would betray the very exact mise-en-scene I was trying to create. I am a purist, and this is the purest way to watch BUFFY. I have resisted the effort to letterbox BUFFY from the start and always will, because that is not the show we shot. This is. So enjoy ! Stop breaking things. You`re getting the best presentation of -- let`s face it -- the best Television Drama since MATCHGAME `79. Bye for now !
Sincerely,
Joss Whedon

at dvdcompare.net I may go for the region 1.

Yeah, they weren`t filmed in widescreen. I don`t think Buffy was widescreen until... season 6??
