I am thinking of buying one of these as they seem to be a bargain ,are they on sale at the moment...? as i am sure have seen them previously at £129.99, at Argos so are they any good..?

I`ve got its predecessor, the 5005, and the only downer is that the fan can be quite noisy when starting or finishing a recording - I don;`t know if the 5006 has the same issue. Other than that, make sure you get the latest firmware before you start using it in anger - early firmware was notoriously buggy. One slight disappointment for me is that the internal clock drifts quite badly and doesn`t sync with any TV clock (e.g. teletext), so you end up having to adjust it at least once a month.

Stick to the recommended blank DVD list that they give you - I strongly recommend a tub of Verbatim 4x DVD+RW`s from SVP - at 52.4p (plus postage) each and being very reliable, I can`t praise the Verbatims highly enough (and SVP are very good too).
