ebuyer £50 Complete Electric Guitar Package is back

pavlovspooch (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 11th April 2006, 15:58

These went pretty quickly before.

The black Strat type costs £49.99 + delivery (about £5 or £6 IIRC) and you can bundle it with the tuner and stand for £9.99. For £60 or so you get Guitar, 10W amp, guitar bag, strap, pick, lead, allen keys (for adjustments), spare strings, guitar tuner and stand.

I think this is outstanding value for money. However, if you want a really good amp it might be worth considering the Behringer V-Tone package at about £80 (+ delivery?) as it`s 15W amp can "model" a number of different amps. Some one posted the link on this forum; if I find it I`ll update this post.

Here are some links to previous threads on these guitars from ebuyer link and link

This is the link to the Behringer package link

Here are some user reviews of the Behringer GM108 amp link. On it`s own the amp sell for over £50

"it might be worth considering the Behringer V-Tone package at about £80"

Or for another £6, they substitute a valve amp!

Still, the ebuyer deal is pretty impressive, and the feedback seems surprisingly complimentary. I`m still resisting, but only just...

Looks like I omitted the ebuyer link in the original post. You can get it here Remember to scroll down the page for the bundle deals (i.e. guitar plus tuner and stand for £10).

Is that the Behringer AC108 Vintager Combo? If so this is a "hybrid amp features a tube preamp united with a 15 watt solid state power amp" see user reviews here

Both amps sound very good but perhaps the GM108 is more flexible with it`s amp modeling able to mimic several different amps (even tube amps) pretty well. As one user says "Ampmodeling makes a good job, I especially like Californian Hot sound with UK speaker. There are many kinds of sound, from blues to metal." Plus you don`t have to worry about replacing tubes.

The offer on the black guitar is over (for the moment anyway) but you can now get the blue strat type at the lower price.

Yes. I hear what you say about the amp modelling, though. Appreciate the link, which included the following remark:

"I cut the speaker wires and hooked it up to one of my sons friend`s Marshall 4 X 12 cabinets in 4 ohm setting and it was quite a bit louder and fuller"

It takes all sorts...

to be fair I don`t think he`s suggesting this as a useable configuration but rather is experimenting to see what the AC108 is capable of and it sounds like the amp coped admirably.

Another alternative would be to get something like the ebuyer package and if you find you want a distored sound (the KCC amp does have overdrive but it`s not particulary nice) you could add a distortion pedal. The Behringer DM100 should be available for under £20 inc delivered. It models 3 classic amps. I`ve cut n pasted a bit of a user review from someone whos used 2 of those amps so should be able to comment

"DS-1 mode - very close to the original, a very marshall-on-overload type distortion, quite a cliched tone, but usable. Kurt Cobain managed to obtain his version of the `grunge` tone from a DS-1 (later a DS-2) among other pedals, so it all depends on the amp you use, the guitar etc etc. Pretty close, and as others have said, it is quite buzzy and perhaps a tad more harsh than the real thing, but I was able to tame that by setting the tone at about 11 o clock. As I would on a DS-1 anyway. So, the DS-1 mode delivers the goods, and to my ear it might well have a bit more gain than a real stock DS-1.

Distortion + - I love this. It sounds like a really great fuzz/hendrix type tone (I play strats which may contribute), with a smooth and long sustain, and great `messed up` quality to your chords, and it just has that beautifully out-of-control quality that fuzz should have. WORTH IT JUST FOR THIS MODE ALONE!

RAT - It sounds very very very close to a RAT. Fuzzy, grindy, nasty rock tone, loads of sustain, power and grunge. Maybe slightly more brash than the real thing, but for £16.00 can you really complain? My second favourite tone is from this mode. Very usable."

BTW the red strat type from ebuyer is now on the same offer as the blue one

If funds will stretch, then an effects box like this can turn your guitar into almost anything! It includes a tuner, too...

BTW, is KCC anything to do with the Sunshine Band? :)
