Tesco price change!

HugoMorse (Competent) posted this on Monday, 11th March 2002, 19:17

Just popped in to my local tesco and most DVD`s are now £15.97. Considering that the average price for An American Werewolf in London is £14.99 on the `Net, I think represents good value for money as you get it then and there.

Since when was paying even the average price "good value for money"? If you`re more interested in getting your purchase immediately than saving money there are still cheaper places than Tesco.

Robot

What places can you recommend for cheap highstreet DVDs?

Unfortunately Robot, I only have a Region 2 DVD. So, taking into consideration that the best price for AAWIL is £14.99 from Play (unless you want to import from Germany), I think spending an extra 98p is a good deal to get it here and now.

If you can find the R2 version cheaper than above, please let me know and I bow to your superiority! The only way I can see getting the R2 cheaper is by using a voucher, of which I have none. All other high street prices range from £16.99 upwards.

How many other DVD users have only R2 capability and appreciate this posting?

yes Tesco are cheap but if you shop around you can get cheaper
i have been caught out before. i know its only pence but ...
try ASDA, Sainsbury, and sometimes if you are lucky WHS have offers on 2 for 25 which include new releases. I` ve also found bargains in Blockbuster.

Also, Woolworths often have good deals, and sometimes you might be lucky and find a good deal where you wouldnt think there would be one. Just before Christmas, my local Co-op got some DVD`s in at great prices. Shrek (then just released) was £14.99! One-offs like that are pretty hard to find though.
Oh, and in a similar vein, HMV and Virgin are forever having 2 dvds for £xx (usually 22 or 25) sales, although the value of these is up for debate. The current Virgin 5 dvds for £50 is alright though, if you can find enough titles you like. £10 a disc for R2? S`alright by my reckoning.

Why bother with highstreet prices simply to get the dvd a few days earlier?? Australia is the best place, usually with delivery taking only around 4 days. Saves the bother of having to hunt around the shops to find the "cheapest" price. Example SE American Werewolf (region 2) is less than £12 delivered from dvdcrave.com.au

oh and dont forget asda are still price matching anything, just take the play24/7 price into asda and they should match it, there you go in your hand for £14.99.

or wait til TESCO have their next VAT free week and get it even cheaper
you`ve waited about 15yrs for AAWIL to be on DVD so a bit longer cant hurt surely ??
