Lord of The Rings

Would appreciate peoples opinions on the picture quality. Does it have pixellation and if so is it mild or obtrusive? I just thought with it being a 3 hour movie the compression would have to be top class. I know there are reviews on the internet but i don`t use them as a reliable source. I much prefer forum member`s opinions!

Hi,
having viewed the movie on a Philips 32" widescreen tv via Toshiba sd100E dvd player.....

I was reallly impressed with the picture quality, the opening sequences when Gandalf arrives back at Hobbiton are stunning, and so far I have seen no evidence of pixellation, ( mind you not been looking for it ), so I would say unless really picky and studying the picture for the smallest imperfection .............

I`ve got an Acoustic Solutions DVD 551 and a Matsui 28" Widescreen (not exactly top of the range, I know) I did notice pixilation in the darker sequences, but it`s nothing too distracting.

Some have commented that there is some on the R2 copy - I have the R1 and have found it fine, both on a cyberhome 512 to 32" widescreen, and PC to projector.
Remember the November 3.5 hour collector`s edition will have the film split over 2 discs, to avoid just this problem...

I did notice a lot of blocking on viewing this title. But it seems it was my player that was at fault. I had a Denon 2800 and it has this artifacting problem, which is down to the chipset used!

It went back to Denon whereby they upgraded the player to the Superior Denon 3800. The picture quality is now AMAZING!
