INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE - SH**TY ENCODING ??!

JLGMAX (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 9th December 2000, 12:48

Ive had the R2 Interview with the vampire for a few weeks and have finally got round to watching it. It looks awful on my Encore 450 - really bad banding/pulsing in the background.

I know that it isnt my player as all the other discs look and play fine !

Has anyone else found this to be the case on this DVD ? I never realised that the quality of encoding could vary so much !!

On my Toshiba 2109B I have not observed any background effects such as bnding/pulsing while watching the interview with the Vampire DVD. The encoding quality is excellent.

Some cheap players can`t cope with background.detail very well.

Also Interview with a Vampire was quite an early dvd and early dvds tended to suffer from poorer encoding.

R1 now have a re-release of it with a brand new anamorphic trasnfer and DD, DTS tracks + extras.
