VCDs aren`t region coded, so yes, they play on any DVD player that plays VCDs. Any mention of region codes in connection with VCDs is totally irrelevant.

However, I`ve had a look at the Coolashop site and they don`t make any reference to region codes on the VCD listings - are you sure you`re not getting it mixed up with something else?

They`re pretty reasonable value in many cases; obviously they`re not up to DVD quality, but at those prices (I think Coolashop have had stuff like "Battle Royale" & "The Isle" for a couple of US$ each) you can`t really go wrong. It`s a good way to catch up with stuff you haven`t seen (or are maybe thinking about getting on DVD but don`t want to spend £££). On the whole, original VCDs are pretty good quality - the last few I`ve watched - "Shaolin Soccer", "Battle Royale", "Donnie Darko" & "Spirited Away" - have all been fine. Nice and compact and easy to store, too.
