Page 1 of LOTR 4 Disk - Which one to get ?

It`s gettting near that time, and I want to get my pre-order in.

Does anybody know if the collectors edition has anything extra apart from the book-ends ? Surely there must be more to justify the extra £10 ?

Also, are there any differences between the R1 and R2 versions ?

Some regions include a 5th disc - the National Geographic "Beyond the Lord of the Rings" thing - IIRC that extra disc has also been added to slightly since it was first issued seperately.

Some of the extras on the R2 version have been cut in order to keep the release as a PG. Stupid decision by EIV if you ask me as they should have gone with the uncut 12 rating that the BBFC were prepared to accept. I`m getting the R1 four disc set, not really bothered about the National Geographic disc.

Is it just the extras that are cut, or is the actual film going to be cut aswell?

just the extras. the BBFC site specifies no cuts were made to the film itself

It looks like I`ll be sticking to Region 2, but I still can`t decide whether to get the collectors edition or not. I`m not really interested in getting the book-ends, but I`m worried that I`ll be missing out on other goodies. Does anybody know if the collectors edition has anything else extra ?

nothing but the book ends and the Extended Edition in the Collector`s thingy, I believe....
