LotR: The Two Towers Extended Edition DVD Scenes! (Spoilers!)

Ok, we`ve got a year to go till this everyone, but thats not gonna stop me popping up a listing of scenes that will most probably be included in the extended version of the film. This info is based upon various spoiler heavy reviews that have been popping up all over the web. I`m sure more will pop up as we go along... imagine how much stuff must have been shot for Helm`s Deep!

Anyway, those additional scenes that most definately aren`t in the theatrical cut:

- Smeagol`s backstory, as we see in flashback his `finding` of the ring, and the 500 year evolution it causes in him. (Andy Serkis, who shot the seaquence as Smeagol will gradually become Gollum through the use of prosthetic make up)
- More stuff in Rivendell involving Arwen and Elrond. A shot in the final trailer of Arwen running and dropping a cloak behind her as she runs through one of Rivendell`s garden`s to her father backs this up, as it does not appear in the film.

- More stuff during the battle at Helm`s Deep, including:

- Eowyn taking on Orcs and Uruk Hai in the caves beneath the fortress (a shot of this appears in the 10 minute preview on the theatrical DVD of Fellowship, yet it doesn`t appear in the final film.)

- The Ents finishing off all escaping enemies at the conclusion of the battle. Official books, including the TT visual companion make reference to this, but in the theatrical cut the battle ends as soon as Gandalf arrives. Many reviewers state that the end of the battle feels too clean cut and wrapped up. (Pure speculation) PJ probably was under pressure to bring it in under 3 hours, and besides, we see other Ents trashing Isengard in the film, so we`ll just have to believe Gandlaf can open a huge can of whoop-ass! (end speculation)
