The Doors (Oliver Stone) - R1 or R2?

Gangster No 1 (Competent) posted this on Friday, 3rd January 2003, 22:10

I have heard that the picture on the R1 is 2:35:1 non-anamorphic, very soft, but has a 40 minute documentary and deleted scenes.

R2, apparently, is 1:85:1 anamorphic, but the documentary and deleted scenes are nowhere to be found.

Help!

The picture on the Region 2 version is 2.35 anamorphic and is rather good, just depends whether or not you want to go for the superior extras on the Region 1 version.

R1 is not anamorphic! Picture quality is good though, but not reference quality.

I`ve got the R1 and its one of my favourite discs. IIRC, its very "widescreen", so not anamorphic. Picture quality is fine and the extras are worth it. I got it some time ago at knock down price so it should be cheaper now.
