Beware of the Competition! I recently purchased a copy of CopyDVDPro and to my horror they refused to refund the full amount ($37.00) after I tried their program for only one day. read below...A word to the wise...

Dear Sir,
I wish to request an immediate refund for my purchase $37.00 (U.S.)
of the copy of CopyDVDPro . I understood this
program to be a simple stand alone DVD copy program. I do not
understand anything about copying a DVD with these complex methods
described in the tutorial. I cannot absolutely nor do I wish to use this
program ever again...thank you very much...please inform me how I can
obtain my refund price for this purchase.

required to indicate that you read and agreed to the terms in our

website to download the freeware utilities. We also provide links to
download a decrypter utility from an alternate website."

This information was available to you prior to you purchasing the product. I
can`t force you to read this, but it is there for your protection. When you
created your PayPal account, you were also required to read and agree to the
terms in their disclaimer. These are legally binding and are meant to
protect both the consumer and the seller. Once you agreed to these terms and
purchase our product, you are bound by this agreement.

Our site has been carefully reviewed by PayPal and we`ve been informed that
it does provide adequate information for the customer to make an informed
decision before purchasing the packages. We also provide additional
information in our disclaimer in case the customer missed something
important.

H, I do as much as I can to inform my customers about what to expect
from my DVD copying packages. I am far more forthcoming than my competitors
about what is included and what are the limitations. If you still feel that
I have misrepresented my product, you may wish to talk with my PayPal
account manager, and inform him of the situation. His name is Tony Ward and

I pay considerable pay-per-click advertising fees to put my product on
various search engines and since I also have no verifiable way to remove
these tutorials once they are installed and registered on your machine, I`m
not able to issue a full refund.

I have given refunds in the past when a customer has experienced a hardware
conflict. This doesn`t appear to be the case for you. I`m a reasonable guy
so I`m willing to compromise. In cases such as yours I can offer you a
refund but I`ll have to hold back $15 as a virtual restocking charge. I pay
on average at least $20 in pay-per-click advertising on search engines, so
this money is already spent.

If this is acceptable to you, let me know and I`ll process your refund.

Get on to your credit car company they may be able to reverse the transaction,explain to them as above and I think you will get a full refund from them.

I doubt the credit card company will be interested... the protection you get from using a CC doesn`t usually kick in unless you`re spending more than £50 AFAIK. The fact the transaction went through PayPal probably won`t help matters, either - too many other parties for each one to blame!

Just goes to prove you should always read the small print - and I`m not trying to rub it in...

I have to say that I don`t think the vendor is being unreasonable.

The software presumably does the job, is not faulty and you want a refund because you can`t follow the instructions >> Each package includes a step-by-step illustrated tutorial << ?

That he hasn`t told you to get lost and is prepared to meet you half way says quite a lot about his integrity.
You bought the software, which at $ 37.00 seems very cheap, to presumable make pirate copies of DVD`s.

You will not get much sympathy from a lot of people, including me I`m afraid.

I`m not familiar with this software but I doubt it very much that $37 is reasonable. I bet it`s a collection of different freeware packages available from the `net. I`ve seen others that are literally links to online sites to download each bit of software. The software leads you to think it is `all-in-one` but is crap and a pain in the arse to use. I get spam for this type of software and I think one `suggested` download was vcdeasy. The guy who wrote vcdeasy was understandably well p***ed off that, without his permission, someone was basically selling his FREEWARE! The guides, like you say are usually crap, very difficult to understand and amateurish. Not worth $37.

Had a look at this site out of curiosity and found it to be open about the software elements that are freeware quote :

Thank you very kindly to all the individuals who responded to my concerns with good advice. I certainly will take the time to appropriately read the fine print next time I purchase software...however, this does serve the purpose of informing other consumers to do the same and do your reseach before purchasing...thanks again guys (and gals!?)... :-))...hwm.

Actually I didn`t see any small print as such.
I`ve seen software sites that were much much more obscure from the so called major players.
However you got some money back and presumably kept the software or a copy of it, so did it justify you joining the forums to make such a lengthy first time post ?
