Region 1 DVDs

PW (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 20th April 2003, 18:07

Hi all, I was thinking of buying a region 1 DVD for the first time (Stephen King`s IT) from the US.

1) I`m not entirely sure if my player is multi-region- Panasonic RV-32. anyone?

2) Even if it is multi-region, I`ve heard some Warner DVDs have a new protection system in place to stop playing region 1 titles on a M-R player.
Any ideas how I could find out? Or if this applies to all Warner titles.

Cheers people.

If you bought it from a `normal` shop I doubt it will be MR.
Panasonic are not easily made MR - you`ll have to get it chipped probably. Even some Tosh`s can now be made MR by a firmware upgrade - something that was only recently found out.
Think you`re probably talking about RCE. If, once it`s made MR, you can manually select region as opposed to auto-select then you should have no problem with RCE discs.
