If you listen to it in Dolby Surround rather than DD 5.1, it is fine.

When you buy a bootleg DVD, you have to know what you`re buying. I did my research on these discs before getting them, and they are pretty good for bootlegs. The DD 5.1 track is good, but it has just been ripped from the Laser Disc (as has, well, EVERYTHING!). The DTS track is a waste of space. But you can`t complain, it is the best way to watch the OT if you don`t have a Laser Disc player.

the DD5.1 track for empire has its channels mixed up, the Dolby Surround is just fine if you don`t mind the missing speaker channels, the discs ain`t that bad, certanly better than my pan and scan boxset, but I`d pay good money for the real deal whenever (2006 or 7 or whatever) they see the light of day.

As I`ve said many times before, the non-5 Star editions are better. They have correct Dolby 5.1 audio, and the picture is just as good (if not better) than the 5 Star discs. Presentation isn`t as nice, but you can`t have everything. The sound on 5 Star Empire is dire. It frequently drops out (especially during the asteroid chase).

Yes, but the surround sound (2.0) is still great, much better than any other option (VHS, VCD), so its still good. But I think the best combination is 5 Star A New Hope and Return Of The Jedi, with the version of The Empire Strikes Back that Chris talks about.

But there is one thing that I don`t think can be argued, the 5 Star ROTJ is the best DVD of the lot, including other bootleg versions.
