I know that x-men 2 is being released as a double disc R2 but does anyone know if there is there a single disc version being produced for R2.
Cheers
No, the 2 disc version is standard for all regions. A 4 disc boxset, containing both films (`X-Men` will be the 1.5 edition) will also be released on the same day.

Actually, there is a single disc version being released on R2 DVD. Go here. ;)

Um well...er, yeah, the thing is, would you, um, believe that, er, y`know, I knew that and was testing the Almighty Wookie of Knowledge.
(F***ing pointless having a single-disc edition, if you ask me.)

I would have to agree, but some people never watch the extras anyway, so if they can save a couple of quid by getting the "vanilla" version, then why not?
Anyway, they still get the commentaries, which I regard as the best extra. But I will always get the best version ;)

Think of it this way: by presenting consumers with a single-disc edition, it results in two problems:

If - for some reason - the single-disc does well, then this may encourage distributors to release single-disc only from then on.

The time spent preparing and releasing the single-disc could be spent on other, more-deserving titles (`The Simpsons` is an excellent example).
Although if they simply put the film on the disc with a great transfer, a choice of Dolby and DTS tracks, with perhaps a commentary, I`d be happy. I`m sick of all this overpriced two-disc `special` editions, full to bursting with uninteresting making-ofs, interviews and other rubbish most people won`t watch more than once... They need not charge a premium then either, although I`m sure they`d still find an excuse.

I think this might be Fox testing the water to see if they can get away with overpriced plain vanilla editions of movies. You notice £12.99 at Play for the single (which is a little more than half the £16.99 for the two disc version where you`re getting twice the material). Next they`ll be seeing if they can get away with "fullscreen" editions like they sell our square-tubed American brethren.

I have an open mind - everything goes in one ear and out the other.
Thanks guys
The reason for my question was that on ChoicesDirect you can pre-order X men 2 for £11.99 but there`s no detail on number of discs or extras and it seemed a bit cheap for a 2 disc edition.

If you find it hard to wait untill November, the Japanese
version (R2 but ntsc) is released on Sept. 12th.
It looks like a single disc edition but it does have an
English DTS soundtrack.
It will set you back about £25 which includes standard
AirMail shipping.
You can get it here.....
