LOTR:TT:Ex - Anybody noticed they cleaned up the scene where...
... Legolas hooks his arm around the horse and swings onto the saddle in front on Gimli?
I remember this scene vividly from the cinema and it was absolutely awefully done but on the DVD, it looks pretty decent. I`m glad they fixed it as I cringed when I saw it in the cinema. :P

Hmmm, I do remember the scene in the ciname and do remember thinking it didn`t look too good ( a bit like in FOTR when he jumps on the Balrogs (was it?) in Moria - just not quite right). And I can`t remember it standing out when I watched it on DVD. I`ll have a look.
How `normal` would it be to change something like that without actually declaring it was changed from Cinema to DVD release??

Not very normal at all. When the final version of the movie is presented to the Studio then they take it and make (in LOTR`s case) approx 10,000 prints of the movie. They also start the mastering of the DVD as well. So it would be a lot of hassle to fix something like this and I`m very confident that nothing was changed.
The only film that you would have noticed some differences in is Attack Of The Clones, but Lucas made some final alterations to the Digital copy of the film that were too late for the film-print copies. But the Digital copy was the final copy and that was the one that made it to DVD.

chewie,
That`s what I`d have thought and yet I must admit I don`t remember it standing out as much as I did when seeing it in the cinema.

I don`t think its changed at all.
it could just be that the slightly not quite right feel is lessened when its on a smaller screen (unless you have a cinema in your front room - in which can i come round and watch extended edition there too?).
Personally, I find it easier to follow the battles on the smaller screen cos you can take more in at any one time. SO it could work on the same principle.

Good point, tripodjw.
I also thought that the scenes where Treebeared was carrying Merry
and Pippin looked a lot more realistic on the small screen.

tonight the lights went off, a curry was ordered and the surround sound turned up - it was time to watch the extended edition.
Bloody fantastic print, and to tell you the truth I hardly noticed the extras as they fit so well in with the film. If I didn`t know where there were I wouldn`t have been able to tell you.

I wish they would clean up the Lord of the Rings films so much that they disappear!
Cant stand these idiotic films! >:(
