Once Upon A Time In Mexico Region 1 DVD

Markey (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 22nd January 2004, 01:42

Watched this last night. Yet another absolutely superb package from Robert Rodreguiez. Every time I watch one of his DVDs I just want to go out and make movies - there are no excuses left! He continues his traditional 10 Minute Film School series on this disc (though changing it to the 10 Minute Flick School a la Digital), plus does a 10 Minute Cooking School where he shows you how to make the pork dish that Johnny Depp killed the cook over.

Then there`s the 10 Minute F***king School - I kid you not!

The Region 2 version says it will include two short films by Rodreguiez. These aren`t on the Region 1 disc. Anybody know what they are?

Think you`re getting confused playthefilm, read what he says again about Depp`s character. :D

JUST GOT TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST..

This is one of the worst fims I`ve ever seen. I usually see about 10 films a month at the cinema and in the last few years it`s the only film i`ve seriously considered walking out of.

I understand that a lot of people love his films but I find the dialogue, cinamatogrophy and editing very poor and just don`t think he`s anywhere near as talented a writer/director as PT Anderson, Wes Anderson or Alexander Payne.

Also all of the special effects in his movies are really bad (see Spy Kids), as well as his inability to direct good action. I would put James Cameron, Michael Bay and John Woo all ahead of him as far as action goes.

This is just my opinion and I`m not having a go at anyone who likes his movies but I just had to air my views.

Sounds like the DVD extras are good though!!!!

Ok, yes he does but its only a very small scene near the beginning of the film in which Depp actually says "I`m going to kill the cook" and then does so. It`s hardly much of a spoiler as it`s not really plot related, and the first I heard of it was in a Total Film review.
