Films not being shown on cinema

nick 745 (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 3rd February 2005, 16:04

The film "Ray" has been widely promoted including trailers at our local UGC cinema (8 screen) then they choose not to show it despite repeating a film that been out for a while now. Why bother advertising a film at a cinema (trailers) if they are not going to show it. The nearest cinema to me showing the film is 38 miles away and they are only showing it for one week at 11am and 3pm. They wonder why people buy films from the states (£10 dvd soon) or worse then that pirate them. There has been so much publicity on this film it so frustrating when the cinemas choose not to show it. It`s not the first time, I remember seeing the adverts (again trailers at our local cinema) for Taxi then they didn`t show it. It`s all about the money

They are showing it at my local UGC, but, of the 11 screens it`s on the smallest one. The wheelchair space is at the front left hand corner and the view of the screen is appaling. Despite this, I thought the film was very good and ordered the DVD when I returned home. Considering the film has numerous Oscar nominations and other awards, I was shocked at the size of the screen it was shown on.

It`s premiering tomorrow night in the back alley behind the Odeon in Leicester Square and goes on general `alley` release sometime in the 27th century!

Oh no it`s not!! I`ve been informed that it is a `straight to video` release on region 12. It can be imported providing the postal workers on Saturn return to work within the next millenium. Otherwise you`ll have to get your copy from `splashdvd` which has newly opened on Uranus....or at least it sounded something like that. And you know what that means!

had to go to nottingham to watch "A very long Engagement" as leicester cinemas won`t show it it seems :(
Likewise Sideways isn`t appearing in Leicester until it gets to the arts cinema after its main run despite being nominated for some oscars.
The only way they`ll show a non mainstream film is if Princess Amidala strips in it or its directed by Clint Eastwood

Oh yes, but what a body. Good film by the way, even if it does run out of steam by the way.

Sideways was good, and a little quirky - the humour reminded me of About Schmidt. But its not as good as I expected to be sadly, and I fail to see how it has managed to line itself up alongside films like Ray and The Aviator at this years Oscars.

Going to watch `The Woodsman` tonight - anyone seen it? Worth seeing?

Oh my God, Bear is driving! How can that be?
