Page 1 of Amityville Remake
DVDs & Films Forum
saw this last night and thought it was a good solid horror film. quite a faithful re-make and lots of `jumpy` moments. melissa george looked quite hot too!! much better than the recent slew, ie. white noise, grudge, toolbox murders, saw etc
"I`ve not seen someone taking a beating like that, since someone put a banana down my pants and set a monkey loose.."
If you`ve ever read any of the testimony from the guy actually involved though, there`s a fair bit of `artistic licence` even in the first film, never mind the ridiculously fantastic new version.
For example, although the room (which they made into a sewing room) was indeed constantly plagued by flies,it was only ever a small number.
Not the swarms depicted in the films.
The ending of the film is also pure speculation as the family have still,to my knowledge,to admit what happened on the last day.
They merely state that events `escalated` and they got the impression the house didn`t want them to leave. :/

A fair bit of artistic licence in the "truth" too - www.snopes.com/horrors/ghosts/amityville.asp

Depends what you read.
There will always be those who claim it`s bollox but,IMO,I`ve always found Mr.Lutz`s testimonies (written or spoken) to be very plausible.
Of course,that doesn`t mean they`re true.
One thing`s for sure though.
I`m feckin sure I wouldn`t spend any time there to try and find out. :/
oops just realised, wrong forum.. :s
