Has anyone seen this film. Is it any good?

Is the film supernatural at all or is it just a "scary" flick with no supernatural stuff in it?

Isn`t it just another Hollywood remake of an Asian film?

Not seen the remake but check out the original it`s very spooky

I agree with droogy, watch the original, it is a very chilling film, and far more subtle than The `in-yer-face` Ring.

Disagree completely. I found (the original) Dark Water to be one of the most bring films i have ever seen, most definately not scary. I might give the remake a go as i really like Jennifer Connely. & i also prefered the remake of Ring to the Asian one.
The Eye is still the best japanese horror film in my books.

I personally prefer the Japanese Ringu trilogy. The remake of Ring isn`t bad (havent seen the Hollywood version of Ring2 yet).
You have to bear in mind the vastly inflated budgets for the remakes, that`s one of the reasons why I prefer the Jap ones. They scare more for less $ I think.

I liked the Japanese `Dark Water` too and think the remake might be alright even if it`s just for Pete Postlethwaite.

btw, If any of you japanese horror buffs are out there :
1) how does the Japanese version of the Grudge compare to the US remake?
2) `Audition` - is this worth watching ?, I get the impression that it`s very disturbing and alot scarier than the other films I`ve mentioned here.

The Eye was made by the Pang brothers and they seem to be a bit HK and a bit Thai since their first success was bangkok dangerous about a deaf assassin. But anyways in no way japanese.
As to audition the plot line is a bit confusing but the ending definitely set my teeth on edge with the and then the and, eeeeeeeek not nice

The grudge the Amercian one is possibly the worst film I have seen in years waste of time waste of money waste of life!!
