Yeah, l know what you mean, there no scary movies being made anymore, but What Lies Beneath did send a few minor shivers down my spine...

The Changling, hum I`ll have to check that one out...

And as for modern horror in general, it sucks. And I think Scream is mostly to blame for this. Horror is now too, glossy, and flashy, and to much the product of major studios who simply want to make money, and so tone down the horror in their films to appeal to a larger audience.
Now im not saying all the horror movies in say the 80`s and 70s were classics they werent. Many were god-auwfull. But there were some gems there too, like the first nightmare, Evil dead 1-2, Halloween ect.

When are we going to see something new, yet frightning hitting our screens?

I`ve heard The Ring is pretty freaky, is it ?

John Carpenter`s `The Thing` is very scary indeed, the first time you see it at least. Its quite old but still stands up in the effects department.

A genuinly chilling film, possibly due to its Antartic setting.

Yup, Ring is fairly freaky. Anyone seen Ring 2?

I always considered Hellraiser and Night of the Living Dead/Dawn of the Dead to be classic horrors.
