So Paths of Glory, one of the best war films ever, doesn`t even rate a mention? ;)

(and if you think this is bad, just wait `til the Spielberg best film poll, lol... :o )

I`d have to go with a 4-way split between Dr Strangelove, 2001, Clockwork Orange, and the awol PoG. Barry Lyndon I`ve not seen since release, Lolita has never actually appealed so I`ve never watched it, and The Shining I`ve always thought hugely overrated. And Spartacus is just too Hollywood.

Have to agree, Strangelove is a masterpiece of acting and direction.

Although Kubrick has made some great films and was probably the most consistently good filmmaker the western world has ever seen, the film that stands out as his crowning glory is Dr. Strangelove. It`s a brilliant black comedy, a scathing commentary on the lunacy of the cold war and contains Peter Seller`s best performance.
