Buying R2 DVDs from Australian Sites

agb (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 24th October 2001, 19:39

I`ve read the post about the great value Aussie DVD sites.
I`m just making sure I`m not being stupid!
If it says that a disc is dual coded for region 4 & 2 will it play on my region 2 panasonic pv55?
Eg http://www.fbo.com.au/movie.asp?ID=4970
Cheers
agb

I lived in New Zealand once, Australia and New Zealand are region 4. Many DVDs sold there are exactly the same as the region 2 discs, ie several languages. Some discs were dual 2 & 4 region, but not all.

So the decision to buy from Oz should be on a per disc basis. Have a look at www.dvdcompare.org.uk this site will help.
