Saw this a few nights ago and meant to post..
Anyone seen it?
While not at all about `9/11`, it`s a slightly different take on how people can still be affected years on.
Don Cheadle plays a great supporting role as Alan - a dentist with lots of money but his life is in a bit of a monotonous routine. He meets an old college friend Charlie (Adam Sandler) who`s family were wiped out in 9/11. He basically has severe trauma from his loss and lives in his own little world. The contrasts of these two lives that a few years before were probably so similar is startling and as well as helping his friend with his problems, in the end, Alan gets just as much out of the friendship as Charlie.
The performance of Adam Sandler reminds me a bit of Jim Carrey..... Lots of people can`t/won`t see pat the stretchy-faced films of a few years back and will miss out on some performances to show he`s actually a very talented actor. Same here - his performance as the deeply traumatised recluse is absolutely fantastic! The wife went through a good few tissues towards the end..
Anyone else seen it?
Special mention too to Don Cheadle`s receptionist - she delivers some great lines. :)

"Sincerity?.....I can fake that!" - Hawkeye Pearce from M*A*S*H
I watched this yesterday, thought it was very good. Some great acting by Cheadle, Sandler, Tyler & Mrs Smith. Was very moving and also in parts very funny, which is something that a lot of films struggle to blend together. Must admit It nearly had me reaching for the tissues at a couple of points namely....
SPOILER:
....When he first opens up to Cheadle about his family & when he speaks to his mother and father in law after the court hearing and he pecks her on the cheek, it was very well played.
Was well worth the watch.
"Dont mention the zed word"
Watched this yesterday too. Excellent film - highly recommended. Interesting to see a subject covered in such a unique and personal way. Film mags have tended to give it 3 stars, but I`d say its easily a 4 star movie.
Giggity giggity!
