Green Hornet only available in 3D - they can sod right off
Was gonna see The Green Hornet tonight, but it only appears to be available in 3D everywhere in Bristol. We have Unlimited cards for our local cineworld, but they still want an extra £1.50 for the `privilege` of seeing the film in 3D and an additional 80p for the glasses. I can almost stomach the 80p as I don`t have 3D glasses and they can be reused, but WTF is the extra £1.50 for? Do they have special 3D monkeys converting it on the fly or something? Bunch of money-grabbing bastards. It`s even worse if you`re a `regular` customer, with a £2.10 surcharge bringing the total price of a ticket for an adult to over a tenner. F*** off, I`d rather wait a while and get it `elsewhere`. It`s bad enough to charge extra for what is essentially the same film, but not to offer the regular version for those who do not wish to pay twice - or see retrofitted 3D - is disgraceful. Surely if it`s only available in one format, said format ceases to be a special opt-in experience and therefore doesn`t warrant the price uplift? Apparently Cineworld`s management aren`t aware of the meaning of `unlimited` either...
Yes I know it`s a rant, but it really, really hacks me off.

If it`s any help, I discovered this week that my free calls each month on my mobile don`t include 0871 numbers, so my bill was about £7 bigger than I expected.

I agree that there should be a choice. I was listening to a film critic on Radio 5 this morning & he didn`t think much to the film.

Ah, Schadenfreude. Actually it reminds me of an entirely new rant. My sister-in-law managed to run up our phone bill when she was over from Oz at Christmas because she was sorting out some stuff after emigrating and called 0845 numbers. If she`d asked me about using the phone I could have told her to use SayNoto0870 to get alternate numbers as we have free geographical calls. So actually you made me feel worse ;)
I feel slightly better about Green Hornet now that I`ve listened to the Kermode review. He said it was pretty bad. Didn`t realise it was retrofitted 3D, which sucks more than usual. We`ve decided to stay in and watch the second episode of No Ordinary Family and then the Gladiator BD that`s been gathering dust since I exchanged it for the remastered version.

RE: Green Hornet only available in 3D - they can sod right off
From what I gather it was Michael Gondrys original intention to shoot in proper 3d, but the studio wouldn`t do it.
Apparently they shot everything as though it should be 3d, then when the studios got excited about 3d they agreed to conversion, but took longer than they usually do. So apparently its nothing like the other "conversions".
Doesn`t really appeal to me, but its got rave reviews everywhere and apparently 1scene has really good innovative use of 3d so I will probably catch it at some point.
I have unlimited card aswell and not too bothered about paying for 3d but agree it there is no 2d option that day then you shouldn`t have to pay extra. They used to let us go to deluxe screen for free in same circumstances ie wasn`t on in normal one.
Saying that I wouldn`t have bothered watching Jackass in 3d, but was only option available and it was one of the best 3ds one I`ve seen and would say its not really with watching in normal to some extents.

What do people with only one eye do? They can never experience 3D but have to pay for a 3D film.

Well i was going to see this at 6pm but was turned away because they had a low turn out for the 2 previous showings this afternoon and decided to show The Kings Speech on 2 screens tonight. It`s rare i have a Friday night off and was really looking forward to seeing The Green Hornet tonight.

I was looking forward to it from the trailer, and I like Michel Gondrey films, but reviews aren`t too good for it

I`ve enjoyed most of the 3d films I`ve seen, an don`t mind paying the extra (of course I`d rather not) to see a film I`m fairly certain I`ll enjoy, but after the disappointment of Alice in Wonderland, will prob give this a miss now.
imdb it`s scoring better, but in early days you never know how many of those ppl have seen the film ;)

I`ve been to see films in the daytime screening & been the only one there.
I asked a member of staff once why they didn`t refuse me entry & was told they had to run the film even if no one turned up because it has been advertised as showing at that time.
As for 3D, I can`t see any 3D movie because I have a fault in my sight in one eye.

We turned up at Cineworld to see Jackass 3d, machine wouldn`t give me tickets (I had pre booked day before). went to the ticket/food stand, was told Jackass isn`t showing! Explained it is as I had booked tickets, but they cancelled it to show harry Potter on another screen! Got given 4 tickets to use another time, and went to Odeon just down the road to see it!
Missus and I sometimes feel bad when we have a day off and go to local Picture House in the day and are only 2 ppl in screen, but I guess our 2 tickets is better than none.
