Can`t play R1 in colour????

dogger1 (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 14th March 2002, 12:16

I have a multiregional toshiba DVD player and a relatively new toshiba TV. I bought a couple of R1 discs, Jeepers Creepers and Swordfish but they only play in black and white. Any ideas?

It is likely that your DVD player is outputting in pure NTSC, which your TV doesn`t support.

The easiest solution is to use a fully wired RGB SCART lead between the player and TV set. As well as solving the PAL/NTSC colour problem, it should also give you a better quality picture.

Provided your TV is indeed "relatively new" (less than 10 years old), it should support RGB input on at least one of the SCART sockets (usually the first one, if there is more than one socket).

how about checking to see if it`ll output in PAL60 in the setup ?
After all why chip a dvd player that only plays pure NTSC
