Film starring Stephen Graham as a head chef in a busy restaurant on a particularly busy night..
Top acting as ever - but every bit matched by his sous chef Vinette Robinson who is superb.
But, even better is the cinematography - the whole film is one take. Not 'pretend' like a few in the past where there's the occasional fade to black - the whole lot (1:30) is one take. It follows characters around, they go off set, come back on etc. - you're often moving between rooms while things are just 'going on'.
Apparently they did four takes and chose the third for release.
Great script, and you often get to know characters based on very little.
Tense at times too, as you would expect in a restaurant kitchen.
WWAW.

Looks like no one bothered with this but your loss 🤣
Four part series coming to BBC starting this Sunday with who was his sous chef looking like the main star.
Again though, can't recommend the film enough.

I don't know why, but sometimes it feels like homework watching something because it has been acclaimed for some reason or another. The one-take thing also seemed a bit gimmicky. It just never appealed to me even though I may well love it if I saw it.
Ironically I've been watching The Bear on Disney and that probably shares a lot of similarities (I'm not even sure what I think about that right now) and people have been raving about that - I'm not quite sure why.
I can imagine some people not even noticing the one shot thing but in a high pressure restaurant/kitchen environment this works incredibly well - you're there with them. I'm not sure how many 'true' one shot things there are, there are usually well placed fades etc.
This is far, far more than a one shot take film though, it has believable characters, a great script and incredible acting.

bloody, hell, glad I don't work in a kitchen! just watched the film, will start to watch the tv series soon.
Don't know why I enjoy Stephen Graham things so much, well I do, he's such an excellent actor, but his films/tv series are always such hard work and leave you so depressed, is he ever happy in anything?

Yes, although as brilliant as he is in it, his sous chef is right up there with him I thought. The camera work was exceptional too.
He's not in the TV Series that much and it more follows her and her staff in a new restaurant....

yes, she was brilliant, especially the scene where she's arguing with the boss was super tense.
