Page 1 of The Terminator 4k
DVDs & Films Forum
just received this yesterday and for first time in a while I bought a movie and put it straight on as its always been a favourite of mine.I won't review the movie as im sure everyone has seen it, if now why the hell not :)
4k transfer is miles better than the travesty that T2 is thank god and the sound is awesome, the special effects on the other hand are a definite mixed bag although it was expected tbf, the stop motion in particular of the endoskeleton Termitator was clunky to say the least and some of the mask work when he fixed his eye again showed its age but others especially the future war scenes and the explosion were surprisingly good given the age.
I was disappointed that there were no new extras (they too seemed to be 2005) but 19 years later its fascinating to see how close they're to nailing the future and Cameron and others agreeing that AI would happen but how far they thought we were from it.
As for the movie itself I dont remember it being so dark, I mean its a technological slasher movie and me being an expert (of course) I disagreed with Cameron on some of the deleted scenes and why he deleted them, others were so cringeworthy there was no choice :)
This is what I was expecting instead Terminator arrived early, unlike the Criterion issue this has dolby vision so really looking forward to a 4k masterclass
