What is the problem with flipper discs?
Just picked up some cheap DVDs and some are `flippers`. A lot of people seem to indicate flipper discs are a bad thing. If you have a film on one side and the extras on the other then what`s the problem?
RE: What is the problem with flipper discs?
You must have been lucky with the titles you chose. On the most other flipper disks the film is split in two and you have to flip the disk halfway through the film.
The term "flipper" literally means you have to get up and flip the DVD over half way through (no doubt while mouthing other words beginning with "f"!) A double sided disc with extras on one side and the whole film on the other isn`t a "flipper".
There are also discs which have a Pan and Scan version on one side and widescreen on the other; those aren`t flippers either.

RE: If it`s not split over two sides...
The others are right, there`s 2 types of double sided disk.
The ones I like as as you`ve said - movie on one side, extras on the other OR widescreen one side, normal screen on the other.
However, the REALLY annoying ones are the half of the film on one side, the end on the other. Why oh why? I have a Region2 Face Off that you have to turn over half way through - kinda ruins the non stop action a tad.
