Gaming and Consoles Forum
i`m seriousley thinkin about gettin a gamecube but wondered how ppl think it compares to the ps2 and xbox??
my brother has a ps2 which i can normally get on, but is there much difference between the games that are available on all of the consoles?? i.e. does one machine tend to have better graphics, easier controls, smoother play etc etc etc?
pleeeeeeeeeeease help out if ya can - i`m quite curious, but wanna know stuff before splashing out or making a wrong decision!
Prefer the GC to the others myself. PS2 does have a massive selection of games (got the PSX games aswell) but most of them are complete arse. Xbox is in a similar state but with very few games.
And if you want a DVD player...get a seperate. PS2 playback is complete pants and the X-box isnt worth getting if you want a games console aswell.
Of course if Microsoft pull their fingers out and get releasing some stand out titles I`ll retract my statements about the huge black beast that is their console.
PS2 all the way!!!!!!!!
Just played POW, very good game, also the gamecube games are a tad kiddie
I`ve got an xbox and i love it! its not the most aestetically pleasing bit of kit, but thats neither here nor there. unfortunately there aren`t many good games for it at the moment, but there are some good ones coming out. plus its got microsofts wallet backing it ... so there should be good things coming!

Prick.
If you want ORIGINAL games and decent graphics, go for the gamecube or xbox. If you want re-hashes of old playstation games, dodgy graphics and uninspiring mindnumbing games go for the PS2.
Super Monkey Ball is the best game ever, and what system is it on?!?
I`m afraid I`ve got to agree that the gamecube is pretty good. Just got one this week and the games are way ahead of anything I`ve played on my PS2 lately. Much more original and seem to concentrate more on making gaming what it should be - fun. Maybe at the moment the PS2 has more strategy and what some people call `adult games` but I guess it depends on what kind of game you want to play.
Of course if you just want good games on a budget the dreamcast still rocks!
original!
hahahahhaha
Rogue Leader = kids xwing
and countless mario and luigi updates.
how ironic.
I guess if you define `kiddie` as fun gameplay and intuitive controls then the cube is `kiddie`. Don`t get me wrong I still rate the PS2 but just getting a bit tired of games which spend more time on cut-scenes and loading than time playing. Many a PS2 title has been updates of old PSX or PC games. Its not just nintendo that can be accused of this and surely it`s a case of `if it ain`t broke don`t fix it` for nintendo?
Lets not let this degrade into that old favourite flaming of peoples opinions hey?
but i never brought this anti ps2 s*** up you did.
**** do you expect whenyou have just gone back on you prior statement?
just check those screenies of GTA4 doing the rounds and forget about that gamecube:)
I am a big nintendo fan, yet still i havent bought a Gamecube because there is nothing to sway me yet...Rogue Leader is a great Star Wars game, Monkey Ball is fun but only so much in my opinion, Smash Bros is decent enough but a bit hectic, it has a certain strategy, roll-block etc...
I will buy a GC when the likes of Starfox Dino Planet and Metroid Prime are readily available...Freeloader or Pal versions.
For now though Ps2 does have a very good line up, with excellent titles i can play now
Mark of the Kri (Conan - Comedy platform-stealth em up...very well put together)
Winning Eleven 6 (Football on your tv, play this and you will not look at another football game ever...i bought my ps2 for the original WE 5)
Onimusha 2 (sequal yes, good game yes)
plenty more very good titles to choose from, fair enough some are sequals but that is bound to happen...Mark of Kri is a platform game but the design of it and the previous game developed by the same team Ico is honestly as original as any Nintendo title.
Im looking forward to the Resident Evil remake and follow ups on GC, but at the same time im looking forward to English versions of things like Kingdom Hearts etc
if the games good play it
