Will the PS2 play (S)VCD`s ?

Just wondering if the PS2 will play these. Mainly SVCD`s I`m interested in (actually CVD to be precise), as that`s the format I save my home movies on (until I get a DVD Writer).

* as its an import from thialand u need a true rgb scart cable as it kicks out an ntsc signal..

xbox plays svcd dvd vcd and divx all to do with firm ware and hardware
