howdo, i got this -> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3065520275&category=20385&rd=1
everything seemed fine when installing but when i re-booted all i get is a message saying "YOUR XBOX NEEDS A SERVICE PLEASE RING THE HELPLINE", now my xbox is chipped and should have been compatable, tho i`ve just opened the xbox up (removed drives etc) but i could not see any obvious signs of the modchip, tho i did not remove the mobo so it could be soldered underneath ? so the question is can it be fixed or is it a dead duck ?
ps. it gives the error code 05 and the service message and no other acces at all
thanks in advance :(

Check the forums at Premodded.co.uk mate. I remember seeing an error code list on there.
"The Internet is a communication device that allows people the world over to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another."
the 05 code is telling you the hard drive needs to be locked:
5 - kernel - HDD not locked (retail bioses require the hd to be locked)
it looks like the evox.ini file or whatever dashboard is included on that disc is wrong and the entries to add a new hdd havent been put in properly...
check out www.xbox-scene.com there are tutorials on there how to make a bootable evox cd which should allow u to edit the ini and configure the hdd properly....hopefully the evox cd will overwrite the files and put it right.
i just checked the premodded forums, it looks like the Northern Monkey auto install and apps disc will do the trick though it will involve forking out again, it contains the all important backup of the xbox C: and E: drives.......
if u backed them up ureself then u are ok as u can use make the evox disc ureself, format c: and use ftp to copy all the files across then install the Evo X dash again with all the right settings....

u have to unplug the hdd and reboot with the disc in if thats any help
cheer`s, the guy that originally modded it for me is having a look at it if this fails then i`ll try disconecting the h/d, thanks again to all that helped :D i`ll let you know how it turns out either way.
ps if all fails, new xboxes premodded with evo/messiah/alladin were available at the computer fair for 160quid :D and that included a controller-s & halo + midtown madness 3

have a look at the `adding a new hard drive tutorials` on www.xbox-scene.com mate
u are probably getting the error due to the fact its trying to boot from hdd rather right from the dvdrom....try making the evox boot cd and make sure the hdd is unplugged and only the evox disc is in
the guy on Premodded looks like hes selling a disc that includes a hard drive backup as well as all the good apps so that would probably be worth checking out...
if ure on broadband u could try to find the Slayers Auto EVO X installer disc which i think does the same as well....let me know how u get on im pretty sure this is fixable

just an update, i got my dead xbox back from the guy that originally chipped it (this was done ages ago and was not the cause of the problem) and he can`t do anything with it :( had anaother go myself, using various suggestions i`ve had from people, all to no avail.
so i`ll have to try and save up for a pre-modded one with a hard drive upgrade/emu`s already installed, looks like i may have to sell my gamecube/ps2 to fund it tho :(
ho hum, i would however like to thank everyone that contributed to this thread offering help & support :D
EDIT
just checked out a few online stores (pre-modded etc) and they don`t take switch ? they all want nocheques (tho whitedog will take paypal, but are to expensive :( ) how daft is that ? i have the cash to buy but most don`t take the payment method of my choice, and seem "dodgy" sod them i`ll get one from the computer fair for 40quid less and at least get the satisfaction of talking to the guy i buy from and avoid paying over the top delivery, and getr a twelve month g/tee instead of the three month bollox most of the online stores are offering >:( rant over, sorry :D
I TOAST, THEREFORE I AM.
