Region X for the Xbox - Availability ????
Does anybody know why the Region X (multiregion converter) for the Xbox is not available anywhere. I`ve searched countless sites worldwide (even tried Ebay), with no joy. Most say "currently unavailable" or "temporarily unavailable", but I suspect that it has never been sold ever.
Have Datel just not bothered to develop it or have Microsoft got all legal and prevented its sale for some reason?
Any help or info would be useful.
RE: Region X for the Xbox - Availability ????
You`ve got it in one! Datel have the package on their shelves, but Microsoft won`t license the product, unlike Sony. Sony don`t "endorse" the PS2 region X product, but for datel to use the consoles name, they must ask the copyright/trademark owners permission. Microsoft won`t allow anyone to use the Xbox name at all!
At least thats the way I understand it.
I refuse to buy a dvd playback kit for the xbox until I get it multiregion, but I already have a 5.1 multiregion system in my room, so I`m not gonna pay for it to be chipped/modded.
Oh well

Thanks for your help.
It`s uncanny how we can "read" these big corporations when they start getting all moody and protective about thier products.
