Ordered it last month from importmadness, been delivered today, and all I can say is wow, this is one nice bit of kit. Got the free spiderman 2 umd and the quality on the screen spot on - no dead pixels. Wipeout pure looks and play like a dream but not got into Metal Gear as of yet. Best of all I didnt have to pay import tax (which I thought I would do) so im using that money to buy a 1gig memory stick.
The console itself is smaller than I though but it is very slick and could rival the Ipod for looks. One thing im starting to see is that its not just a games machine but a full media centre that fits in my hand. Just scared of scratching the case or dropping it. It is too good for kids....
OK, very jealous now ;)
Mine got shipped from Walmart.com last night to my mate in NY.
Then someone is bringing it over next week - so I`ll have it then (hopefully!)
Only problem is that they`re lacking in the Ridge Racer games at the mo - so still waiting on that (no expected delivery date on the order - but it says in stock).

You may want to hang on before splashing out just yet - I`ve imported stuff from the US and Aus in the past (sportscar bits and pieces) and more than once have not received the demand for duty and handling fees from the courier until 3-4 weeks after delivery. They sometimes pay it on your behalf and then claim it back. So, don`t count your chickens just yet.
Certainly agree about the PSP though. I picked a Jap one up off ebay and have been mightily impressed with it. Got some real looks off people nearby on the train into work last week when a mate and I were played wireless head-to-head Ridge Racers. I guess they thought it was odd to see two grown men in suits and ties playing what they thought must have been kiddie`s consoles :D You could almost hear them thinking "NERDS!"

Thought that, but on the parcel the supplier had written childrens toy and the value of only the game $34.00 - not the console. They did that with a ds I purchased at xmas for the wife and I didnt get stung then either.
On a different note got a bigger memory card today and been playing about with it in work and Im still glowing from how good this system is. All the lads at work were impressed and few of them have bought one so soon we can play head to head via wi-fi. Its great dumping your latest dvd on the card and watching it over your dinner hour or when you are working erm hard.
Hi, do you know if your US PSP comes with the Sharp manufactured screen? Apparantly you can tell by looking at the battery compartment (with the battery out) and seeing where it was made, the Sharp screens are in the PSP`s made in Japan - apparantly. (this is certainly true according to my own Japanese PSP).
Cheers

I dont think it really matters if it has a Sharp or Samsung screen, I have both a JPN PSP and a US PSP and the picture quality looks exactly the same to me.
I tried out the Spiderman 2 UMD film and it looks nice and sharp with plenty of detail.
I`m not saying it matters, I`d just like to know if the US PSP`s are being manufactured in China.
Hiya!
Does anyone here know if the PSP is software locked to a particular region, like the PS2, eg if you buy a US version, can it only play US software and Films or is the PSP region-free for both games and movies?
Thanks in advance
the games arnt locked ive got a jap psp and ive got twisted metal us and it plays fine:) the only thing which is locked is movies so u cant play american umd movies on a psp but if you buy a jap psp they share the same video regions as eurpoe so it will play english dvds ok when they finaly sell them in the uk
At the moment the only region locking is in regards to UMD movies but even, though Sony have said games are not region coded it is possible that game developers will add a region coding to games in the future which will prevent them being played outside their native region, hopefully this will never happen but it is a possibility.
