Page 1 of Cracked discs on 360
Gaming and Consoles Forum
I have had my Xbox 360 for a month now and yesterday I was happily playing Ridge Racer 6 when my console froze and when I ejected the disc there was a big crack in it that was not there when I put it in.
I phoned the 360 Customer Service and the guy bluntly told me I had cracked the disc when I took it out of the box and because the disc spins so fast when it loads this caused the crack to grow and ruin the disc.
As I only have 6 games at the moment and within one month a game has been destroyed I am now worried that before too long all the other games will crack.
Microsoft know of this problem but will not replace any damaged discs.
I am interested to see if how big the problem is.
On a happy note my local GAMESTATION exchanged the disc for me - Thank you.

This is a well known problem and has been talked on many different forums since the start of the year.
Some think it is the result of the disc being spun too fast resulting it in getting hot then being placed back in its case causing stress on the centre of the disc which then leads to cracking.
So far I have been lucky and not one of my 11 games has showed signs of cracking but saying that I do leave the games in the 360 to cool down before I put them back in the case.
i too have had no problems with mine, but that is becuase i tned to leave mine in the console rather than putting them back in the case.
Only had one busted one so far - bought Table Tennis from Tescos - got home opened it and the disc had a crack in it - took it back and it was replaced.
