Page 1 of PS2 sound, but no picture.

Got meself a PS2, new at a bargain price ( or so I thought ) well anyhow when you switch it on you hear a little intro sound but no picture is displayed. Any idea what the trouble is ?
Ta in advance!
Check your scart cable connection to the TV.
Checked all the connections, tried two different TV`s, using the scart block and without ( the red white and yellow leads ). I dont think any output is leaving the yellow. Just wondered if it was a common fault, hopefully with the cable and not the PS2 itself.
Possibly the picture setting has been set to component output?
I had my PS2 set up to my Plasma through component but decided to take it away as most games do not support progressive scan, i plugged it into my other CRT tv using a scart cable and had no picture....only sound.
I had to navigate the menus blind until i found the Output RGB in the setup menu.
Might be this. :B

Cheers Skirpy, I wondered if it may be that, but negotiating the menus blind? I wouldn`t have a clue.
I tried to buy A PS2 on preorder when they first came out, Dixons shafted me even though I was one of the first to preorder. I tried again and got robbed by a dodgy interweb firm, fortunately Barclaycard refunded me, so I`ve been an Xbox / 360 / Gamecube user since then. So many years later Boots offer them at £50 so I couldn`t resist, I guess I`m destined never to have a PS2. :D
£50...you got a link?
My PS2 is on its last legs!
There is a few PS2 games that must be played...God of War and Final Fantasy 12 for a start, hope you get it working.
RE: PS2 sound, but no picture.
Boots had a clear out a couple of weeks back. It came with Buzz and the controllers and a couple of other bits. Also grabbed a GBMicro and two games for £30.
