See, that`s expensive, but it wouldn`t put me off at £425 if I was after a new console. I think there`s a bit of positive buzz around the PS3 of late, and I have a feeling it`ll still be the top system.

I can`t see myself buying one, as it`s not the price that puts me off. As others have said it`s a comparable price to a premium 360 with the HD-DVD add on.

although this is interesting: Japanese retailers cut PS3 price ;)

I can see similar happening here, like in USA, first month or so, won`t be able to get one for love or money, and then loads on shelves, until next Christmas anyway, when it could get interesting again.

Yeah, I suppose this is the case. I don`t think it`s too bad a price, though it`s too much for me at the moment. I`ll probably get one later on in it`s lifespan.

Really though, Sony have a mountain to climb, and should be communicating the games side of this system much better than they are. Why does there seem to be no discussion about the games we can expect on PS3? Why have there been no publishers and developers claiming allegiance to Sony? Where are the huge lists of upcoming titles? People still buy games consoles rather than multimedia devices. Microsoft are really communicating the games side of the 360 very well with their recent TV ads. For the likes of me that makes the 360 a more appealing system at the mo.

I still expect the PS3 to launch well though. Motorstorm looks tremendous.

The thing is, the PS3 could give you a blow job and shoot rainbows out of its arse, but it still cant suddenly make £425 (£500 for an extra pad, game and blu-ray video) appear in sombodies pocked.

I mean, I love my 360 but I certianly wouldnt mind getting back in to some of the franchises I missed out on by not getting a PS2. I do, however have a big long list of things to spend a monkey on and a PS3 is pretty far down them.

Maybe in a few years after a some heavy price cuts and a few more games available, but with Kojima talking about doing a metal gear game on the 360 and virtua fighter jumping ship, the exclusives are getting pretty few and far between.

Its my 30th in July and the Mrs asked what I wanted (since I bought her an eternity ring last year she`ll hopefully spend a bit)....I`ve said a PS3.

I`m now doubting whether that`s a good choice or not. I mean I`ve seen it in action (in the US) and it is very nice...but really not sure about the value for money aspect.

I was always very tempted by the PS3, but I just can`t justify £425 on another console. I`m sure it`ll be amazing (well at least Motorstorm is supposed to be good), but I`ve got a 360 (which I physically love) and a Wii, as well as a PS2. Unless they bring out Guitar Hero 3 with something like 250 songs for it, it`s not even going to enter my radar until they knock at least £100 off of it.

Singstar...with 3000 songs available to download...that`s quite tempting.
(I love the drunken nights in playing that :D)

Pffft... Theres even a hole in the bottom for a wah-wah pedal add on and a planned steady stream of genre themed song downloads.

I`ve already crapped them. That`s ace. Although I need to consider whether that`s a good purchase in itself, considering I`ve just mastered Guitar Hero 2 on the PS2.
