RE: European PS3 different to US and Japanese.. Less backwards compatibility..
I made the mistake of buying a Japanese console, it plays all PS3 game regions fine but i can`t play any of my US PS2 games.
Was looking forward to playing God of war 2 on 720p too.
Hopefully some hack will become available.

I listened to a guy on the radio who said that the japanese version of ps3 is actually the best one to get - as it has ps2 hardware in it which allows it to be backward compatible with ps2 games (so ps2 and ps3 in one unit :x ). BUT the uk version ps3 which is considerably more expensive will not have the ps2 hardware built-in >:(
RE: European PS3 different to US and Japanese.. Less backwards compatibility..
This has really made me think about not getting a PS3 now....at least not for quite a while.
I was planning on getting it for my 30th birthday in July, but the more I read the more I`m doubtful over whether its a wise purchase.
I`m tempted by an Xbox 360, but don`t like the idea of a seperate drive for HD movies...and also the lack of HDMI (nice easy connection)...so really not sure now.
Decisions decisions! :/
