A cat5 cable (AKA Network cable or RJ45 cable) which comes with the Premium pack. He will need a broadband router which has that connection though as most of the free broadband routers/modems from ISP only have USB connections.
It wont get him on the "net" though. Only Xbox Live

Hi
alternatively, if he doesn`t have access to a router, he`ll have to use
ICS via a pc which is connected to the net.
in this instance, ditch the supplied ethernet cable and get a length of
cat5 "crossover" cable.

Like me (except I still can`t get mine to work :/ ) somethings wrong that won`t let me enable ICS (internet connection sharing). Have been unable to do anything to sort it out, was even trying again last night but can`t be bothered wasting too much time as I`m back on wireless next month.
So annoying seen as it used to be enabled for me to play Pro Evo online on the PS2. I though I`d found an answer last night as I found a page on google that matched my exact problem.
When I actually clicked on the link it was my post on here from about a month ago, doh!

RE: Connecting a XBOX 360 to the net with out a wireless
Hi, I had the same problem with my xbox360 i just baught a 15 metre ethernet cable so it runs from my PC in my living room to my bedroom. I just plugged the cable into the back of my PC (next to some USB slots) there is a phone connection thingy, then i just connect to the internet turn my 360 on, and it works fine.
Also you need to go into the internet connections in the control panal on the pc and make sure your connection is shared.
Hope this helps :p
