Try shopto.net they have some really cheap 360 offers. Some are saving 20% off cost price.
Premium comes with 20gig HD and the new V2 model has HDMI.
Elite is black, has an 120gig HD and also has HDMI.
The arcade is aimed at familys and comes with ten free games and has no HD but a memory card.
There is an HALO console which is green and has (i think) the 20gig HD and HALO 3 game. Also comes with HDMI.

As stated above, there are a variety of console options to suit your pocket, so get whichever best suits your home.

Don`t go for a top of the range console if you don`t have a Hi Def TV to plug it into, or a Broadband Router to go online through.

You will always get better value with a package deal.

I assume your son is close to leaving or already left school? Halo 3 is a certificate 15 game if you didn`t know. :)

not wanting to appear thick...but wot is hdmi???
it seems better to get the unit with HD rather than use memory card, but do these games (halo) take up much memory..ie wondering to get bigger HD

Simply, HDMI is the kind of cable you use to connect it to the tv, which I believe gives the best picture if you have it in Hi-Definition (Mine`s component and haven`t seen one with HDMI so can`t really make a comment either way).

Assuming you don`t have a HDTV then it`s a bit irrelevant, although handy for the future and if you are getting a new console with a Hard drive it appears that they all have it now anyway.

You won`t use up the 20gb hard drive with saved games alone and additions, as they don`t take up too much space.

The only reason you may want the bigger is if it will be used to download demos (they are about 700mb-1gb each), or if lots of music will be transferred onto the Hard Drive.

i agree with 1mills.

go for the "new" version 2 of the premium (HDMI) console...it has (apparently) been
modified by M$ to reduce the liklihood of over heating which has been the curse of
the 360 since launch.

if you can wait a little longer, there is another 360 in the pipeline which uses
a thinner chip to further reduce the event of overheating some more.

with regards to the ver 2 console...using HDMI gives imho, a crisper picture than
either component or VGA.

HMV online are doing the Premium model now renamed the "PRO" console with Halo3 and Gears of War for £249.99 an absolute bargain...although bear i mind GoW is an 18 certificate game...these two games are worth about £60 if bought seperately.

or even better still: Pro Console, Halo3, Forza2 (car game) + additional wireless handset (for dad of course and a must as the consoles only comes packaged with one wireless controller) for just £259.99 if you don`t want him to have an 18 certificate just yet...

As mentioned above, always plump for a bundle rather than just a machine as you can see from the above linked page you will save a mint...
