caps lock off.
i`m not 100% sure but i think something like the WiiKey or similar modchip will
allow you to play PAL games on a NTSC system and vice versa.
one issue which is worth considering is the fact that nintendo often release system
updates on their game disks...if you have a foreign system and run a PAL update
you run the risk of bricking your wii.

Wiikey is the most popular modchip but it`s getting bad press when it comes time for updates.
If you have a mate with a programmer there are open source mods on the market you can use but as Splinetcell rightly says you can brick it with an update....however:
keeping the console 100% up to date with it`s own firmware updates online will stop a disc update bricking it, backing the disc up first then running a program on it will remove the update and prevent bricking it, and if oyu do brick it it`s usually correctable by waiting for the next disc to be released on the console`s native region with a newer update.
If the wii is next to new, probs within the last 6 months, the chances are it`ll have a D2C drive chip in it, and that`s a whole `nuther ball game!
Then you currently need a chip called a D2CKey with 32 wire install to pins less than .5mm in width and apart!
