Any decent Wii deals around at the moment?
9 year old son`s birthday coming up, and he`s asking for a Wii. He already has a Gamecube, so is well versed in the Nintendo world. What essential "extras" should we consider?
RE: Any decent Wii deals around at the moment?
Oh you beat me to it - was going to ask the same question!
Looking to buy one between us as mine and my lads bday are coming up.
Sorry guys (and gals) its gonna be a long few weeks with me asking lots of
"How do I......?" questions.
We all know how technically challenged I can be ;) :D

Game has some deals including (in stock currently) wii and wii fit!! also from memory argos has some deals with free games, hope this helps
RE: Any decent Wii deals around at the moment?
Asda has console only at £150 according to Hotukdeals :)
RE: Any decent Wii deals around at the moment?
My local Asda still had it at £179.
In the end I went for a deal at ToysRUs. They have the console with Mario Kart for £179 - so basically Mario Kart free. It`s shown as out of stock on the website, so I dropped in to our nearest branch, and it`s an in store promo as well. However, they had no tickets available for it, but I asked the guy on the department, and he said as long as they had the console and Mario Kart in stock he could write out a ticket and I could have it - BINGO!

As for essentials, the only things you really need are a spare controller and nunchuck and a decent set of 4 AA rechargable batteries and charger, at least 2500mAh.
We also bought a component cable for ours, can`t compare it to the supplied standard cable as never used it. But it does give a nice crisp picture.
We got our extras from Ebay, a fair bit cheaper than game etc.
All the best
Gerald.

Getting ours tomorrow from Game - my lad has yet to choose which package (but we have struck a deal that anything over £90 each we are chipping in he has to pay ;) )
So am I better off ordering the `extra bits` from ebay as suggested - whats the `componant cable` - is it just a posh word for the cable that runs from Wii to tv? Do I really need to pay out to upgrade if we just have a bog standard tv?

No. Its unlikely you will notice the difference.
But be warned. Its a total triggers broom of a console. If your son has mates over regularly, its 50 quid per controller, up to 4 controllers, then theres the Wii Fit, then theres the zapper.....
If you like lots of expensive plastic in your house, youve got the right console.

Luckily his father is stupid enough to buy him all the extras so all I want is the basic stuff that we will need for here for us to use.
He can `borrow` the extras from his dads when/if needed ;)

As Nick said, not really. If you had an HDTV there`d be a noticeable difference (I use component myself).
Be warned that there is so much s***e available for the Wii. It`s going to end up being another PSOne in terms of the amount of garbage to wade through in order to get to the good stuff. Just check on here if you need tips on what games to buy.
