hmmm, i died. a lot :(
Rob, have you seen this?
i would love for Nintendo to release a stupidly powerful machine
to recreate graphics like these. they already do stunning artwork
and stuff, but to have it come to life with the processing grunt available
these days would be brilliant.

No I hadn't, pretty cool.
I must admit I struggle to get into Zelda, tried really hard with the Ocarina of Time on 3DS but it's just not for me.

the nature of the game for me (at least) means that a portable will struggle
to do it justice. the zelda games sort of demand that you put the hours into
them. on a big telly hours can fly by. on a handheld i'd reckon i'd be suffering
with some kind of eye fatigue or stiff neck after 30 minutes.
i'd thoroughly recommend Z:OOT on the N64 (or emulator) - it really is a
fantastic bit of software :)

I think it's the control mechanism, the way the camera works, and just the game itself. I never got into it on the N64 either, my brother loved it though.
When it came out, I was playing Quake and Baldur's Gate, so the N64 in general just looked quite simplistic to me. I was late to the Nintendo party, my first one was a Gamecube, but I am a fan of their games mostly. Just not Zelda for some reason.
I forget where I stopped playing, but I remember being very irratated trying to sneak past some guards, and not really knowing where to go half the time.
